Squarespace is the better design tool and the worse wedding product. You get total control and a blank page; the RSVP handling, guest list and registry are yours to build or embed. Crivando ships all of that and costs less, but you're working within eight templates.
Why couples leave Squarespace.
Usually about three weekends in. Squarespace hands you a beautiful blank page and total design control, which is exactly what you want right up until you need to collect a hundred and forty RSVPs with meal choices attached to them.
There's no wedding RSVP system. You can bolt a form on, but a form gives you a list of submissions, not a guest list you can filter by who hasn't replied yet, or a catering summary you can hand to the venue. There's no registry either: that's a third-party embed and whatever fee comes with it.
And it's expensive for what a wedding needs. Plans run $16 a month on Basic up to $99 on Advanced, on annual billing, for a website you'll actively use for about a year. There's a point where planning stops improving the wedding, and building your own guest management system is comfortably past it.
Where Squarespace beats us.
Design freedom, and the fact that the site outlives the wedding. Squarespace will let you build essentially anything and it will look good doing it. Our eight templates are editable but they are still eight templates. Annual plans include a free custom domain for the first year. And when the wedding's over you still have a website, which is more than any wedding platform including ours can say. If you already pay for Squarespace, the marginal cost is zero and this comparison is academic.
